The business plan is written for whom?

Entrepreneurs often struggle to write a business plan, partly because the task of writing forces them to examine a lot of issues about their business that may not yet be clear, even to themselves.  They know that they are writing the business plan for the use of potential investors, but is that really the case?  As this brief article in Innovation Weekly points out, the function of writing the business plan may be just as important as the finished product.  And the intended beneficiary of the business plan may be far more important than any single investor.
